Privacy Policy
Pre-launch draft. Planr.ai is not yet publicly released, and the publishing entity, registered address and governing jurisdiction have not been finalised. This document describes exactly how the app handles data today and will be completed with those details before release.
Last updated 19 September 2026. This describes exactly what Planr.ai does with your information. The short version: your schoolwork lives on your device, an account is optional and syncs only what it needs to, your grades never leave your device at all, and we never target ads using your schoolwork.
1. Who we are
Planr.ai is published by Planr.ai. For anything in this policy, contact privacy@planronline.com.
2. Accounts are optional
You can use Planr.ai without an account, and nothing is held back if you do — every study mode, the calendar, the recorder and the AI all work signed out. What an account adds is having the same material on your phone and your laptop, and a way back if you lose a device.
If you do create one, we store your email address, an encrypted password, and the material described in section 4d. We never ask for your name, phone number, school, or date of birth. We cannot read your password: it is stored only as a one-way hash, which is why nobody here can look it up or tell you what it is, and why a forgotten password can only be reset rather than recovered.
3. What is stored on your device
Everything, first. Your classes, assignments, grades, study guides, flashcards, practice tests, lecture transcripts and notes, settings, and your school calendar connections are all written to storage inside the app on your own device. Lecture audio is stored on the device as well. The device copy is the one the app actually reads and writes; an account is a backup of part of it, not a replacement for it.
Some of it never leaves, even with an account. Your grades and your school connection details — the feed addresses and access tokens that reach your school platform — are excluded from syncing by design. When you connect a school platform, marks and individual assignment scores are fetched through our server and passed straight to your device: never written down, never associated with you, never uploaded to your account, never shared with a study group, and never used for advertising. Lecture audio and raw transcripts stay on the device too.
Deleting the app, or using Settings → Reset everything, erases the device copy permanently. If you have no account, that is the only copy and we cannot recover it. If you do have an account, signing in again restores the synced material listed in section 4d — but not your grades, connections or lecture audio, because we never had those.
4. What leaves your device, and when
Five things leave your device, each only when you take a specific action:
a. Text you send to the AI
When you generate a study guide, flashcards, a practice test or lecture notes, ask the AI tutor a question, or highlight text for an explanation, the relevant text is sent to our server and forwarded to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce the result. It is sent for that purpose only. We do not store it after the response is returned, and we do not use it to train any model. Anthropic processes it as a service provider under their own terms and does not use API content to train their models.
If you would rather nothing left your device at all, Planr.ai includes an on-device engine that produces study guides, flashcards, tests and lookups locally. It runs automatically whenever the app is offline.
b. School calendar syncing
When you connect Schoology, Canvas, Google Classroom, Blackboard or any other calendar feed, the feed address (and, for Canvas or Schoology, the access token you provide) is stored on your device. Each time you sync, it is sent to our server, which fetches your calendar and returns the assignments to your device. We do this server-side only because school platforms block direct requests from apps. We do not retain the feed contents, the feed address, or your token. Grades fetched this way are handled the same as assignments: returned to your device and not kept.
c. Study groups
A study group stores only what you explicitly choose to share, and unlike an account sync it makes that material readable by other people. When you tap share on a deck, study guide, practice test or set of lecture notes, a copy of that item is uploaded so the other members of the group can read it. Nothing is uploaded in the background, and nothing else in the app is eligible: your calendar, your grades, your uploads and your lecture audio and raw transcripts can never be shared, by you or by anyone else.
Joining a group creates a random identifier for your device and stores it with the display name you choose. That name is visible to the other members of the group. It is not linked to an email address, a school account, or anything else that identifies you, because we hold none of those. Anyone who has a group's invite code can join it and read what has been shared there, so treat the code as private.
You can remove anything you shared at any time, and leaving a group removes you from it. If the person who created a group deletes it, or if the last member leaves, the group and everything shared in it are deleted from our servers.
d. Syncing your account
If you create an account, the material you would be upset to lose is copied to our servers so your other devices can load it: your classes, calendar and tasks, study guides, flashcard decks, practice tests, lecture notes, and your settings. It is stored against your account and nothing else — we do not read it, mine it, or use it to target advertising.
Four things are deliberately excluded and never sync, no matter what: your grades, your school connection addresses and access tokens, lecture audio, and raw lecture transcripts. Lecture notes sync; the recording and the verbatim transcript of other people speaking do not.
Syncing happens when the app saves in the background and when you tap Save now. Signing out stops it and leaves the device copy exactly where it is.
e. Subscription purchases
If you subscribe, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous identifier and your subscription status so the app knows whether Pro is active.
5. Advertising
The Free plan is supported by advertising, and the Pro plan shows significantly fewer ads. The Exclusive plan shows none at all. No plan ever shows an ad in the middle of a study session.
Ads are never targeted using your schoolwork. Your uploads, notes, transcripts, flashcards and AI conversations are never shared with an advertising network, and are never used to select which ad you see.
Where a third-party ad network is used to fill those slots, that network may set its own identifier on your device to limit repeat ads and measure delivery, under its own privacy policy. On iOS you will be asked for permission before any cross-app identifier is used, and declining does not restrict any feature of the app. You can remove ads entirely by subscribing to Exclusive.
Cookies and advertising on the website
On planronline.com the ad slots are filled by Google, using Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can turn personalised advertising off at Google My Ad Center. To opt out of personalised advertising from other vendors as well, use optout.aboutads.info, or youronlinechoices.eu in the EU and UK. Opting out stops ads being personalised; it does not remove ads, and it does not restrict any part of Planr.ai.
These advertising cookies are set by Google in your browser, not by us, and we never see them. Nothing described in sections 3 and 4 — your schoolwork, grades, uploads, transcripts or AI conversations — is passed to Google or to any other advertising vendor, and none of it is used to choose which ad you see.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We do not target ads using your schoolwork, notes or AI conversations.
- We do not use analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not build a profile of you.
- We do not read your schoolwork.
- We do not store your grades — they never sync, even with an account.
- We do not store your school passwords or access tokens.
- We do not upload lecture audio or raw transcripts.
- We do not require an account to use any feature.
7. Microphone
The lecture recorder uses your microphone only while you are actively recording, and only after you grant permission. Audio and the transcript stay on your device. Transcription is performed by your device's own speech recognition. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work.
8. Students and younger users
Planr.ai is intended for students aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app can be used with no account at all, and used that way we receive no personal information from a user whatsoever. Creating an account is optional and requires an email address — if you believe a child under 13 has created an account or sent us personal information through a support request, contact privacy@planronline.com and we will delete the account and its data.
If a school or district deploys Planr.ai, the school is responsible for obtaining any consent required under FERPA, COPPA or local law. We act only as a processor of the text a user chooses to send for AI processing.
9. Your rights
Because your data is stored on your device, you already have direct access to, and control of, all of it. You can export a complete copy at any time from Settings → Export backup, and delete all of it from Settings → Reset everything. If you never made an account, that covers everything we could possibly hold, because we hold nothing.
If you have an account, the synced copy described in section 4d also exists on our servers. Email privacy@planronline.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete the account and everything synced to it. Deleting the account also removes you from any study group and erases anything you shared there. Because deletion is permanent, export a backup first if you want to keep your work.
Material you shared into a study group can also be removed on its own: delete an individual item at any time, or leave the group to remove yourself; deleting a group you created erases everything shared in it.
If you are in the EEA, UK, California or another region with statutory data rights and you believe we hold information about you, write to privacy@planronline.com and we will respond within the period your law requires.
10. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Your device's own storage protections apply to the data held locally. No system is perfectly secure, so treat a school calendar feed address like a password — anyone holding one can read your schedule.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and note it in the app's release notes. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect.
